The furniture is individually hand crafted by Amish craftsmen living in southern Indiana. The rockers are typical of the chairs used in the homes of the Amish in this region. The Amish stress humility, family and community, and separation from the world. Their lives move more slowly than ours, and they examine change carefully before they accept it. If a new idea does or product does not assist in keeping their lives simple and their families together, they probably will reject it.

The Old Order Amish drive horses and buggies rather than cars and don't have electricity in their homes or shops. The Amish are a private people who believe God has kept them together despite pressure to change from the modern world. The Amish wear very distinctive and plain clothes they feel encourages humility and separation from the world. Their clothing is not a costume; it is an expression of their faith.
